Speaking of ghosts again, has anyone ever heard of a ginn?

Sorry don't know the exact spelling. pronounced like gin. Someone told me that the grey haze and smokey smell that I experienced could have been one of these. They also said they only come around when there is about to be trouble. Which there was not long after the event. However, I've only ever experienced this once, but it did boost my curiosity. Anyone know about these things?
