Why do you think the historians perceive Ho Chi Minh as a controversial political figure?

Ho Chi Minh was actually a brilliant military strategist who managed to defeat the United States. If he was perceived as controversial it is because the historians can't wrap their heads around the fact that he beat the US; a sort of historical denial.
