Going to Mexico, near playa del carmen for 2 weeks, worried about the weather?

I checked up on what the weather is like in Mexico and the forecast is telling me that there are chances of thunderstorms right through till Monday, and maybe even further! What is the weather like at the moment? is it really that rainy? Im going on holiday to get away from the rain and the cold so i don't want to be going some where exactly the same! :( Does anyone know how long it is meant to last? This holiday is meant for me to get away from the rain and miserable weather! Is there any point in going, should i cancel?
