Why some husband more concern for their mistress when wife discovered the affair?

good question. i always wondered that too. i was told that it is because they don't want the other person to have a bad memory of them. my cheater at the time answered that question saying this person only knows him as a good person. and didn't want to wreck that like he wrecked my knowledge of him. It didn't make sense to me. so i stopped asking.
